Dive into a one-of-a-kind beach experience at Handig Beach in Homonhon Island!

Nestled in the northernmost tip of Homonhon, the beach is a quiet spot away from public reach and the bustling of cities.

Handig Beach boasts its beautiful white sand and its sparkling waters along with its unique rock formations. The beach is a long stretch of fine sand right beside an untamed jungle of trees and vegetation, and at its tip stands an impressive mountain dusted with greenery and plant life. Altogether, the landscape gives a primal feeling and there is no doubt you’ll be connected with mother nature!

The rocks at the beach are a must-see for anyone who admires the works nature. The rocks are dark, a stark contrast to the white sands around it, and form interesting polygonal shapes along its surface. Since these rocks are on the northern tip of the island, this is the best place to watch both sunrise and sunset.

While you bask in the sun and admire nature’s art, you can also settle in the cozy cottages built right beside the beach. These relaxing homes are made entirely (save for the restroom and foundations) out of wood and plant weaves, making it a home that’s still one with nature.

Even if the cottages are rustic and primal, you’ll still find functioning electricity, plumbing, and even a kitchen. In other words, you’ll have the joys of camping out while enjoying the comforts of the modern world!

At night, when the waters calm down and the island goes silent, you can fall asleep to the cool ocean breeze that flows freely through the cottages.

Once you’ve had your fill of sand and saltwater (but I doubt you ever will), you can also arrange trips into the mainland to explore other natural wonders in Homonhon Island. One notable destination is the lugad, a freshwater stream within walking distance from the beach. Just be sure to respect the locals and the land around!
