Camping by the beach has never lost its sparkle. There is always something magical in listening to the sound of the waves and feeling the cold breeze of the air kissing your skin.

The challenge is where to put up our camping gears.

Isla Hambongan in Inabanga, Bohol is a spot that deserves our attention. It is an island composed of less than a thousand settlers in which almost 100% rely on fishing as their main source of living. During good weather, the island can be reached in 20 minutes.

The cold breeze, the sound of the sea, and the bonfire nights under the sweet moonlight are the things you will love about Isla Hambongan. It also treats its visitors with the best view of the sun – whether it’s slithering down the horizon or gliding its way up the skies.

The place also has an abundant share of creamy white sand beaches and clear waters. The fine sands are enough reasons for everyone to fall in love with the place. Coupled by the homey and laidback environment that you get when you visit the inland where you can see the community, the locals’ warm smiles and hospitality will make you feel you’re at home.

One thing you shouldn’t miss when you visit here is to have a feast of freshly caught seafood. Also, when planning to visit the island, you can bring your camping gears but there are also locals who allow tent rentals.

The community of Isla Hambongan has made efforts to drive the preservation of their place’s beauty. There have been various initiatives already and the goal is to create long-term change in local behavior by inspiring pride in the threatened species and habitats that make their community unique.

After enjoying our beers at night while we camp with our loved ones, let’s make sure to leave no trace the day after.
