Ormoc will be seeing their Modern Convention Center soon enough as the construction of the multi-purpose building is now ongoing according to the new photos released.
The Php 120 million-worth convention center will be added to the list of must-see places in the city of beautiful people. It is also expected to pull tourists and locals alike to better help the economy and development of the city.
Its 1-hectare building will be built on an 11-hectare property of LGU-Ormoc in Brgy. Juaton and will contain the following:
- 1 basketball court
- 4 convention halls
- Meeting rooms
- Souvenir stalls
- Food stalls
- Parking lot
Other buildings/structure in the area:
- Hall of Justice
- BMX Park and Squash Courts
There were two phases on the contract cost where the funding was released accordingly according to Assistant District Engineer Irwin L. Antonio of the Leyte 4th District Engineering Office, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
- Phase 1
- Funding: Php 50 million Contract cost: Php 48,757,225.23
- Phase 2
- Funding: Php 75 million Contract cost: Php 71,281,413.09
Implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Leyte 4th District Engineering Office, the project is expected to be accomplished in 180 calendar days.
