The Magpupungko Rock Pools in Siargao is a famous naturally formed pool far from the shore and surrounded by various rock formations. The pool is made by the surrounding rocks with a cavity at the center serving as the “swimming pool”.

Albeit small, many people pass by this unique looking pool because of its rare views and the unique experience that it offers to the people. Little do they know that this pool isn’t the only naturally formed pool in the country and that the island of Mindanao is blessed with the same kind of rock formation.

The Palpag Beach Pool is the same nature pool as the Magpupungko Rock Pools in Siargao. It is located at the rocky shores of Jose Abad Santos in Davao Occidental and boasts of turquoise waters that glimmer under the sun. It has a pristine and extremely refreshing look that is very irresistible and beckons every passerby to jump in and take a swim.

The Palpag Beach Pool actually belongs to a collection of mini-pools lining the rocky shores of Brgy. Tabayon. When the tides are low, the water can reach up to above chest level. On high tides, the swimming pool might as well be just a rock cavity as the entire pool is submerged under the water.

The small pool is a great place to relax for a short while with the verdant views filled with a hill of trees and other flora on one side and the expansive blue of the sea on the other. It is completely untouched and is purely natural as the pools and the natural surroundings are the only things that exist in the area. If you’re looking to run away from crowds, then this is definitely the place to be.
