One of Time Magazine’s ‘100 world’s greatest places’ for 2021’ is finally reopening.

With its constant waves perfect for surfing and chill vibes, it has been a favorite escape island to locals and foreign alike. Now, the beautiful island will reopen to tourists on September 1 but with strict COVID protocols.

No worries though as they have given us all the requirements and we have listed it in the most comprehensible way possible. 

So here are the list of things you need upon entering the province via Siargao Island Airport and Surigao City Airport:

For Surigao del Norte residents:

  • Negative RT-PCR test result (swab or saliva testing), released in the last 48 hours
  • Valid ID containing address in Surigao del Norte/ Proof of residency in Surigao del Norte

For government APORs:

  • Negative RT-PCR test result (swab or saliva testing), released in the last 48 hours
  • Valid ID
  • Travel/Mission order issued by the Chief of Office

For walk-in tourists and non-resident private APORs:

  • Negative RT-PCR test result (swab or saliva testing), released in the last 48 hours
  • Valid ID
  • Confirmed booking of accommodation for at least 2 nights from DOT-accredited accommodation

For tourists invited by locals:

  • Negative RT-PCR test result (swab or saliva testing), released in the last 48 hours
  • Valid ID
  • Travel Certification issued by the Mayor of the City/Municipality of destination

For SDN Residents from mainland going to Siargao Island:

  • Negative RT-PCR test result (swab or saliva testing), released in the last 48 hours
  • Valid ID containing address in Surigao del Norte/ Proof of residency in Surigao del Norte/ Travel Certification issued by the Mayor of the City/Municipality of destination

1. What if vaccinated?

  • A negative swab/saliva RT-PCR test result is still required vaccinated or not

2. Who are exempted to the negative swab test?

  • Young ones age 17 years old and below are exempted from presenting a negative swab test result.

4. Where to send travel requirements?

  • You can email your travel requirements to sdntourism@gmail.com a day prior to your arrival in the province.

5. How long is the swab test valid?

There will be a post antigen test requirement by the LGU after 5 days from the date of arrival in the province of all tourists and Private APORS at their own cost, Vaccinated or not. If tested positive then they shall be subjected further to swab or Saliva RT-PCR Test at their own cost.
