Zacara Lastimado, a member of the Umayamnon indigenous peoples (IP) in Cabanglasan, Bukidnon, believes it is her destiny to be one of the community’s voices.

Her identification as an IP, she feels, has pushed her to become someone her family and community can be proud of, in addition to her desire of being a teacher.

Lastimado is one of DSWD-10’s success stories since her family was formerly a participant in the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), which assists disadvantaged families to improve their financial situation.

Lastimado was invited to be one of the “formators” of the Father Leoni Mission Foundation Incorporated in Bukidnon after graduation, an organization that also assisted her in completing her education.

She is said to be working with the foundation’s clientele.

Lastimado is the eldest daughter of Tita Postrano, 44, and Zacarias Lastimado, of Poblacion, Cabanglasan, Bukidnon, according to Oliver Inodeo, DSWD-10 focal person for 4Ps.

Zacara has been a regular academic achiever since elementary school, according to him.

After winning the provincial elimination of the Search for Exemplary Child, she represented Bukidnon in the National Children’s Congress in Manila in 2012.
