Hiccup and Toothless are brought to life!
It’s been almost 15 years since the release of the beloved classic animation, How to Train Your Dragon. Today, Dreamworks has released its first live-action adaptation teaser along with the film poster. With excellent CGI effects and authentic setting, the film will not disappoint.
The film is directed and written by Dean DeBlois, who also co-directed the 2010 animated original. Due to this involvement, it is highly assured the adaptation will remain faithful to the original that told the story of a young Viking named Hiccup who defies his tribe’s dragon-slaying traditions by befriending an injured dragon, Toothless. The franchise has since expanded into sequels, TV series, short films, and now a live-action.
The live-action cast includes Mason Thames as Hiccup, Nico Parker as Astrid, and Gerarld Butler reprising his role as Stoick, who originally voiced the character from the animated franchise. Butler shared insights about filming the remake in Northern Ireland, highlighting the harsh winter conditions and the challenges of wearing a multi-layered costume during intense shoots.
This project blends nostalgia for fans of the original film with the excitement of seeing its iconic moments reimagined on the big screen which is set to release on June 13, 2025.
Fun Fact: How to Train Your Dragon is the first Dreamworks animation film that is adapted into a live-action.
