An intermediate hike can cover a distance between 5 to 9 miles with a 3000 ft. of elevation change. The pack weight is expected to be around 3kg to 4kg and the participants must be fit and active enough to be able to last the hike.

Tribu Katkat has recently revealed that they will be organizing a hike in Cebu mountains. The meeting place for the event will be at Metro Paseo Arcenas, and the participants must be present at 4:30 AM; 30 minutes before the scheduled departure. Also, no time allowances were given, hence, the late attendees will be left behind. The Tribu also advised the participants to bring the following:

Moreover, the organizers themselves strongly advised people with existing medical conditions that may put their lives at risk during the hike to refrain from joining the activity. Furthermore, it was noted to hike at your risk considering the current weather situation of the island. The hike will commence on June 30, 2024.

The Route

The hike will start at Metro Paseo Arcenas, which was scheduled as the meeting point. The hike will then commence at 5:00 AM.

The first destination will be the well-famed shop on top of the hill; Starbuk’s, in which you will be treading the rather perilous path of the Spartan Trail going to the destination. This can become the first resting stop of your hiking group.

Afterwards, the downhill path of the Baksan Trail will be showing itself where you can relish the nice view of the entirety of Guadalupe, Cebu.

Following your exhausting descent on the Baksan Trail, you can then rest your tired minds and bodies in the fresh farms of Amordino.

Subsequently, your team will then be faced by a rather challenging change of elevation going to Pamutan Grasslands. The trail is dubbed by the hikers as one of the most challenging slopes in the island. The place can become your camping site, in case the blanket of the night sky has caught up with your adventure.

After the challenging path of the Grasslands, you will then be treading a more challenging trail especially this rainy season; the Cawa Falls.

However, after a challenging tread on the perilous path of Cawa, Buhisan will then greet you with its rather large water reservoir commonly known as the Buhisan Dam. Finally, your team will then be treading a path leading to Punta — the determined exit of your hiking adventure.

— Hiking is exciting, fun and a form of staying healthy. However, we all must remember that for the adventure to be an enjoyable one, you must be careful during the journey. Also, it is important to know if your body will be able to shoulder the burden hiking might impose on your physicality.
