Located at the coast of Matalom, Leyte, Canigao Island boasts a powdery white sand, turquoise waters, and a peaceful vibe that rivals more famous destinations.

At low tide, the sandbar, which is around 200 meters from the main island, is really walkable. During low tide, when the sandbar is completely exposed, it links to a shallow reef region that is ideal for wading. It also connects to a shallow reef area that is ideal for wading.
A Reveal at Low Tide
It only reveals itself during low tide, making it feel like discovering a hidden path across the sea similar to that of a fairytale that is surrounded by an infinite view of blues and dramatic skies. During clear days, nearby islands like Camotes Island, Limasawa, and sometimes as far as Bohol can be visible. In comparison to other popular sandbars, Canigao is relatively peaceful especially when you go there early.

Things To do At the Sandbar
Walking the entire length of the sandbar while the tide is low gives off a very magical vibe with having your feet on powdery white sand with the sea gently lapping at your feet. Photoshoots can also be done at the sandbar where the powdery white sand meets the blue skies making it a perfect backdrop for portraits, drone shots, or even a spontaneous prenup style shoot. Admire seashells scattered along the shore, just be careful not to take the live ones. With how shallow the waters are, you can take a dip or have a playful time of splashing fun.
