To ensure the safety of the streets in Davao, hanging wires—often referred to as “spaghetti wires”—are not only an eyesore but also pose a significant safety risk to pedestrians. These loose or hanging wires can lead to injuries or, in worse cases, electrocution. The removal of these cables is mandated by an ordinance requiring all telecommunications companies to comply with the Underground Cabling Plan of Davao City.

Phases 1 and 2 Completed

Recently, the team completed the second phase of clearing a section of Magsaysay Avenue under the city’s underground cabling project on March 2, 2025. The first phase, which ran from the Post Office to BFAR, established the route for the Magsaysay Avenue cabling.

Ordinance No. 0152-17, also known as the Ordinance Requiring All Telecommunication Companies, DLPC, and All Other Persons to Comply with the Underground Cabling Plan of Davao City, serves as the foundation for the cable removal.

Ordinance No. 0177-14, which originally covered the area around City Hall and the Sangguniang Panlungsod building, initiated the Underground Cabling Project.
