Sungkilaw Falls is a hidden cascade tucked beneath the mountains of Diwan, Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte. At about 20 feet high, it may not roar like bigger falls but its charm lies in peaceful forest surroundings, cool pools and natural springs. Many visitors call it a slice of serenity far from the city’s clamor.

The Falls and Its Surroundings

The waterfall lies in Sitio Virginia, Barangay Diwan at about 14 km from the highway and requires descending roughly 400 concrete steps through lush forest to reach it. At its base, water gathers into pools where visitors can bathe though current conditions and depth vary so care is needed. Near the falls, a “mineral well” with salty or slightly saline water is said to have therapeutic properties.
