Dumaguete Animal Sanctuary is a non-profit, no-kill shelter dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming stray and abandoned animals in Dumaguete, Negros Oriental. Established in June 2019 by Christine Askew and Robie Bernardo, the sanctuary aims to end the suffering of neglected animals through rehabilitation and re-homing programs as well as education and community outreach.

A Safe Haven for Strays

The sanctuary currently cares for over 30 dogs providing them with veterinary treatment, spaying and neutering, and a safe environment. Two full time caretakers live on-site to ensure the well being of the animals. The sanctuary relies entirely on public donations to maintain operations and continue its mission of rescuing animals in need.

How To Get There?

Location: Bacong, Negros Oriental, Visayas, Philippines

By Car: From Dumaguete City, head south toward Bacong. Continue for approximately 8 km which should take about 10 minutes. Upon reaching Bacong, follow local signs or directions to Cantil-e to Isugan Road then proceed to Purok Matinagdanon. Using a navigation app like Google Maps will guide you directly to the location.

By Commute: From Dumaguete City, take a Ceres bus bound for Bacong at the Ceres Bus Terminal. The fare is approximately ₱15.00 to ₱20.00 and the journey takes about 15–20 minutes. Inform the conductor to drop you off near the Cantil-e to Isugan Road junction in Bacong. From there, you can take a habal-habal to reach Purok Matinagdanon, where the sanctuary is located. The total commute time is around 30 to 40 minutes.
