Jing Lavilles de Egurrola, a Cebuano bushcraft practitioner and founder of Camp Red Bushcraft and Survival Guild, became the first Cebuano to successfully hike the Cebu Highlands Trail in 2017. Alongside his hiking companion, Jonathaniel Apurado, they began their trek in the southernmost region of Cebu—Liloan Port, Santander—and ended in Bulalaqui, Daanbantayan, at the island’s northern tip.

Stretching the full length of Cebu Island, the trail offers a wide range of experiences. Hikers pass through mountain barangays and rural towns, cross ridges and rivers, and encounter scenic waterfalls. Jing was dedicated to this journey with the goal of promoting not only Cebu’s beaches but also its beautiful highland trails.

Egurrola also offers guiding services for those who want to hike and explore the Cebu Highlands Trail (CHT). Hiring experienced guides is essential for a safer, more informative adventure—especially on routes without marked paths. We hope Mr. Jing himself will one day lead us on the trail, so we can benefit from his vast knowledge of survival and bushcraft.

One of the best ways to enjoy Cebu’s stunning natural beauty is by trekking through its mountain trails. Come and experience the thrill of hiking through the mountains of Cebu.
