The Mayon Volcano Lighting Project is a proposed project that uses new lighting technologies to improve the famed Mayon Volcano’s nighttime visibility.  Funds for the project, which is expected to cost PHP 1.3 billion, have been allotted for 2024 and 2025 under the General Appropriations Act.  By using lasers and light fixtures to illuminate the volcano’s slopes outside of its six-kilometer permanent danger zone, it aims to increase tourism in Albay.

Well the project and initiative were good but people especially the people from the place disagreed with the proposed project, one netizen said, “It is so impractical that Mount Mayon is beautiful without it.” Other netizens said, “It is more practical if the proposed project is to be used on widening the roads or used for other projects for the community.” On the other hand, according to the Albay Biosphere Reserve.
