In a world where travel is often about ticking off destinations, Naba Falls offers a refreshing alternative: a return to the basics. Located in Brgy. Kabunga-an, Leyte, this hidden cascade isn’t just a destination, it’s an experience of stillness, simplicity, and natural beauty that feels untouched by time.

Unlike the tourist-heavy waterfalls seen on every travel guide, Naba Falls quietly flows through layers of rock and forest, surrounded by the soothing green of untouched vegetation. It’s not grand in scale, but its layered flow, crystal-clear waters, and cool, shaded pools create the perfect spot for rest and reflection. It’s the kind of place that doesn’t beg for attention, it earns it, slowly and sincerely.

Ready ‘Naba’ Mo?

There are no gates here, no vendors selling coconut juice or loud music from nearby cottages. It’s just you, nature, and the low hum of water against stone. And that’s exactly what makes Naba Falls worth the trip. The water is cold, refreshing, and ideal for a quiet dip after the hike in. Locals sometimes gather here, but never in crowds. Most days, you’ll have the falls all to yourself.

This is also a place that asks for respect. There are no trash bins, so bring your own bag and clean as you go. There are no stores either, so pack what you need: food, water, and proper trekking shoes.

How To Get There?

Location: Brgy. Kabunga-an, Leyte

Via Car: From Tacloban City, drive south via the Maharlika Highway toward Baybay City, which takes around 2.5 to 3 hours. Once in Baybay, follow the road to Brgy. Kabunga-an, Leyte. Roads are mostly paved, but expect some rough patches near the barangay. You can park near the community area, then take a short 15–30 minute trek through forest trails to reach the falls. Offline maps or Waze are helpful, but it’s best to ask locals once you’re nearby.

Via Commute: Ride a van from Tacloban to Baybay City (₱120–₱150, 2.5–3 hours). At the terminal, hire a habal-habal (motorbike) going to Brgy. Kabunga-an (₱100–₱150). The motorbike drops you near the jump-off point where a short hike leads to Naba Falls. There are no signboards, so it’s wise to ask locals for directions or go with a companion familiar with the area.
