“Let’s groove to the sway of the mangroves”

Obo-ob Mangrove Garden Integrated Ecotourism Conservation Association, simply known as OMAGIECA, is an association where they are aiming to protect and preserve the mangroves in the area. The area has some features such as bamboo walkways, kayaking, and picturesque spots. The place was used on the set of the 2016 movie “Camp Sawi.”

The Story Behind the Garden

The garden is a community-driven project aimed to protect and preserve the mangrove ecosystem and it was initiated by the local communities to promote conservation and to provide sustainable livelihood for the locals. The people behind the efforts not only helped preserve the environment but also created a unique attraction and also educated the visitors about the importance of the mangroves.

Best time to visit OMAGIECA

The best time to visit the Mangrove garden is from January to April when the weather is cooler with less chance of rainfall. This period offers a pleasant condition for exploring and enjoying outdoor activities. Morning and afternoon are the ideal time to stroll in the garden

HOW TO GET THERE?

Exact Location: Barangay Obo-ob, Bantayan Island, Cebu

  • By Bus + Ferry: Take a bus from Cebu North Bus Terminal to Hagnaya Port. The trip may take approximately 4 hours to reach the port.
  • By Van + Ferry: An alternative transportation from Cebu City to Hagnaya port.
  • By Plane: You can also book flights from Mactan -Cebu International Airport to Bantayan airport and it only takes roughly 20 minutes.
