“If you have respiratory conditions, stay indoors if possible. If you must go outside, wear a mask to protect your health.”

On April 28, the Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (QCDRRMO) advised all residents of the city to wear masks to avoid inhaling polluted air. People with respiratory conditions are strongly encouraged to stay indoors, if possible, to prevent health complications.

The QCDRRMO also reminded the public that they may call the QC Helpline 122 in case of health concerns or emergencies related to the unhealthy air quality.

While the current air quality issue is concentrated in Metro Manila and surrounding areas, residents in the Visayas and Mindanao should remain alert. Although it is less likely for pollution at this level to immediately spread to those regions, changing weather patterns, wind directions, and continued environmental neglect could eventually impact air quality nationwide. It’s essential for communities across the Philippines to stay informed and proactive about environmental issues, regardless of their current exposure levels.
