Before accessing woodlands and bushy areas, travellers start with a difficult climb up more than 300 concrete steps. The scenery is dominated by sharp, dramatic limestone structures around the summit, making them ideal for climbing vantage spots.

Summiting takes around 1 to 2 hours that offers early climbers a serene dawn and stunning 360° views. The limestone boulders at the top are both exhilarating and precarious. Visitors often spend time rock scrambling, resting, and taking in the vista though caution and respect for the terrain are always needed.

How To Get There?

Location: Malaybalay City, Bukidnon, Northern Mindanao, Philippines

  • Via Car: From Malaybalay City proper, drive south along the Sayre Highway toward Valencia City for about 18 km until you reach Barangay Managok. From there, follow the signs leading to Sitio Binalbagan where you can find designated parking areas near the trailhead. Travel time is roughly 30 to 40 minutes depending on the road conditions. A private vehicle makes it easier to reach the jump off point since public transportation options to the sitio are limited. 
  • Via Commute: From Malaybalay City Public Terminal, take a jeepney or bus bound for Valencia City and get off at Barangay Managok. The travel time takes around 15 to 20 minutes. From there, hire a habal-habal to take you to Sitio Binalbagan which is the jump off point for Mt. Capistrano.

Mt. Capistrano is an accessible gem for both novice and seasoned hikers combining a short and intense trail with dramatic rocky views over Bukidnon’s fields and mountain chains. It’s the kind of trail that feels hidden yet rewarding. It offers a quick summit that leaves a lasting impression.
