Sinulog Quick Tips

There are so many tips and tricks when it comes to having an enjoyable time during the Sinulog, but here’s a few you might consider:

  • Respect the Human Barricades: Approach students managing barricades kindly when asking to cross for photos with contingents or stars. Remember, they’re there with the same reasons as you, to celebrate the joy and blessing of the Sto. Nino.
  • Timing is Key: Ask for photos during dancers’ breaks or when they’re seated to avoid disrupting performances. Most of the time, dancers go into their routine when there are judges nearby as they fight for the coveted awards.
  • Arrive Early: Get to your spot along the parade route early to secure a good view and soak in the atmosphere.
  • Stay Hydrated: Bring water to stay refreshed throughout the day, as the festivities can be long and hot.
  • Wear Comfortable Shoes: Opt for comfortable footwear since you’ll be on your feet a lot in crowded conditions.
  • Protect Yourself from the Sun: Use sunscreen and wear a hat or sunglasses to shield against the sun’s rays.
  • Capture the Moments: Bring a fully charged camera or phone for photos, but be mindful of not blocking others’ views.
  • Engage with the Performers: Cheer and show enthusiasm for the dancers and contingents to enhance the festive atmosphere.
  • Explore Beyond the Parade: Check out local food stalls, cultural exhibits, and activities to experience the festival fully.
  • Be Mindful of Others: Practice patience and consideration for fellow attendees as you navigate through the crowd.
