Marilog’s rolling hills are among the most scenic and soul-soothing landscapes along the Bukidnon-Davao (BuDa) Road about 76 kilometers from downtown Davao City.

What Is Marilog

Marilog District is a mountainous area in the southern part of Davao City, bordering Bukidnon. Often called “Little Baguio of Davao” for its cool climate, pine-lined roads, and misty mornings. The rolling hills refer to the rippling terrain visible from various view decks and resorts, especially around Barangay Datu Salumay, Baganihan, and Crossing S.

Why Visit Marilog?

It is dubbed as the little baguio of Davao and with its elevation it brings crisp air, fog kissed mornings, and pine lined ridges. The hills offer sweeping sceneries of cloud forests and river valleys, especially at sunrise when the sea of clouds rolls in.  From native coffee and tablea chocolate to Canadian-inspired dishes at Pilgrim Café, the area blends local and global flavors.

What to do at Marilog?

Sunrise & Sea Of Clouds Chasing

At Sonnen Berg Mountain View it is best to arrive before 5 AM to catch the sea of clouds from 2,670 feet above the valley, though it is dependent on the weather as some days it may have little to no clouds so visitors should manage their expectations. The panorama from Sonnen Berg features a breathtaking view of a sea of clouds embracing the mountain ridges.

Another place to visit is the Hills View Mountain Villa where it offers dreamy cloudscapes and pine forest ambiance that is ideal for quiet reflection or photography. It showcases nature’s grandness to the fullest with its breathtaking overlooking view of the clouds. Once the thick chunks of clouds disappear during the latter parts of the day, an equally splendid view of the green hills and mountains caters to the sight of every spectator.

Farm Visits And Eco-Tourism

You can come visit Bemwa Farm and pick strawberries, sip native coffee, and learn about organic farming practices. Taglucop Strawberry Farm is another sweet spot for berry lovers, often included in guided tours but is technically in Bukidnon (Barangay Lorega, Kitaotao), not Davao City. It’s often included in BuDa tours due to proximity, but worth noting for jurisdictional accuracy.

Cultural And Scenic Stops

The Philippine Eagle Monument is a symbolic tribute to Davao’s conservation efforts. Another place to visit is Highway 81 as it gives a scenic drive with roadside cafés and flower gardens, great for slow travel and landscape shots.

Pilgrim Café: Serves Canadian comfort food with locally sourced ingredients, cradled in the highlands. It is situated very few meters from the Buda, or Bukidnon-Davao national highway. Since the opening of their restaurant just last December, many customers have dined in and come back for the sumptuous meals including appetizers, mains, desserts, and pastries.
