Santacruzan traces its origins back to the Spanish colonial period in the Philippines. Originally a solemn observance, it was created to honor the discovery of the Holy Cross. Through the fusion of local customs and Spanish religious practices, the procession gradually developed into a vibrant pageantry that resonated with communities across the archipelago.
