Dinagat Island is a gem in Mindanao known for its pristine beaches, unique rock formations, and lush landscapes. Despite its remote location, the island offers adventure, tranquility, and a glimpse of untouched Filipino beauty. It’s perfect for travelers seeking both nature and culture.

Plan Your Visit

The best time to visit Dinagat Island is during the dry months from December to May when the seas are calmer. You can enjoy a quick one day hop from Surigao but if you really want to see more, 2 to 4 days will let you explore both the beaches and inland spots.
What To Do in Dinagat Island

Island hopping is the main highlight. Think Blue Lagoon, Pangabangan Tidal Pools, Hagakhak Rock Formation, and pristine white sand beaches. You can also explore Lake Bababu, trek to scenic viewpoints, or check out local communities to experience traditional Mindanaoan culture.
Dinagat Island is also home to unique wildlife like the Dinagat bushy tailed cloud rat and even a lagoon where baby reef sharks thrive are reminders that you’re exploring a province rich in both culture and biodiversity.
Budget and Preparations

Dinagat is still laid back and not as commercial as other island destinations so bring enough cash. ATMs in San Jose exist but may not always be reliable. For a 3 day trip, prepare around ₱4,000.00 to ₱7,000.00 depending on where you stay and how many you are in the group.
