Every January, Cadiz City in Negros Occidental turns vibrant as Dinagsa Festival draws locals and visitors into days of music, movement, and devotion. The celebration honors Señor Sto. Niño, strong faith into every beat and step across the city. Its energy builds gradually, making each day feel like a rising drumroll.

Roots of a Beloved Tradition

Now in its 52nd year, Dinagsa traces its spirit to the Ati-atihan rhythm known for raw movement and thunderous drumming. The festival reflects Cadiznon identity through bold costumes and grounded choreography. Faith, heritage, and livelihood meet in a celebration shaped by generations.
A Festival That Runs Deep
The 2026 festivities opened on January 16 and continue until January 26 with a packed citywide program. From sports and agriculture showcases to cultural and education events, Dinagsa fills multiple venues daily. Nights come alive with concerts that draw large crowds.
Drumbeats and Cultural Pride

Patikanay drumbeating sets the tone early, echoing across the streets and announcing the season in full force. Cultural presentations such as Sayaw Pagdayaw and Sinaot Cadiznon take over major thoroughfares. These performances spotlight local stories through synchronized movement and music.
Celebrating Strength and Inclusion

Miss Dinagsa 2026 takes center stage on January 23, highlighting grace paired with resilience. Ahead of the pageant, Paralympiada gathers special education schools from Negros Island Region and Panay Island. The event underscores Dinagsa’s long-standing commitment to inclusivity and community care.
Faith on Land and Sea
Devotion remains at the heart of the celebration with a fluvial parade at Banquerohan Port. For more than five decades, devotees have joined this sea procession in honor of the Child Jesus. The religious rites anchor the festival’s joyful energy.
The Streets at Their Wildest
January 25 marks the Dinagsa Street Dance Competition, the most awaited spectacle of the season. The same day features Lamhitanay sa Dalan, a signature Cadiz tradition where revelers splash each other with colorful non-toxic paint. This moment of shared chaos defines Dinagsa’s identity and unity.
A Meaningful Closing
The festival concludes on January 26 with a Misa Fiesta at Sto. Niño Parish Church. The final day brings reflection after days of celebration. Dinagsa ends as it begins, grounded in faith and gratitude.
