Early morning is ideal for clear reflections on the water. Late afternoon offers soft light for photography, but it is best to leave before sunset as the access road is dark. Visiting during the dry season ensures easier travel on the dirt path.

How To Get There?

Location: Villaba, Leyte, Philippines

  • By Car: From Tacloban City, drive north along the Maharlika Highway for about two hours, passing towns like Palo, Abuyog, and Baybay. In Villaba town proper, follow local signs toward Catagbacan Lake. The final section is a short paved road that becomes a dirt path. Regular cars can pass, but vehicles with higher clearance handle the road more comfortably.
  • By Commute: Take a bus or van from Tacloban City bound for Villaba. Upon arrival in town proper, hire a habal-habal (motorcycle taxi) or tricycle to reach the lake. The ride takes around 15–20 minutes, and local drivers know the way well.
