Limadjag Sandbar only appears during low tide, revealing powdery white sand surrounded by clear, shallow waters. Long before it became a photo stop, it was already a fishing ground and picnic site for locals from Lungsodaan, Baybayon, and nearby coastal barangays. The name traces back to ladjag, the sail of old wooden vilos boats used by fishermen who braved the open sea to reach this spot.

A Protected Marine Haven

Today, Lumayag Sandbar is part of a Marine Protected Area. Swimming is allowed only in designated zones, while fishing, shell gathering, and sand collection are strictly banned. A small guard post stands on the sandbar to watch over the area. Despite modern spellings like Limayag or Lumayag, locals still proudly call it Limadjag, a nod to their Boholano roots and heritage.
