What Makes Lulugayan Falls Special

Unlike narrow, single-drop waterfalls, Lulugayan spreads wide and proud. The water crashes into a strong current pool below, creating a blue-green basin that shifts in color depending on the light. The current can be intense, which is why ropes are installed for safety when crossing to the other side. On calmer days, the upper part of the falls reveals gentler waters perfect for rinsing off and cooling down. The sound alone is enough to silence your thoughts, steady, powerful, grounding.

The Walk to the Falls

From the registration area, visitors take a 10 to 15-minute walk along concrete footpaths built beside the river. The trail is easy and beginner-friendly. As you get closer, the rumbling grows louder until the trees finally open up to the full view of the falls. Local guides are available at the jump-off point, especially helpful if you plan to cross to the deeper side or climb toward the upper level.

What To Do

Swimming is the main highlight, but expect strong currents near the main drop. Hold the guide ropes when crossing. On the other side, you will find calmer sections where locals swim, picnic, and even use vine swings hanging from nearby trees. Adventurous visitors climb toward the upper level for a different angle of the falls. The top offers calmer waters and a wide view of the cascade below. Cliff jumping is done by some visitors, but only with caution and guidance.
