So we are here to give you information on a mountain destination in the south of Cebu!

The Ginatilan Mountain

Known for its Tacocong making, Ginatilan is also a go-to place for people who would like to experience the white sand beaches and clear coastal waters of southern Cebu. The region is also believed to be the birthplace of the Blessed Pedro Calungsod.

However, unbeknownst to many, Ginatilan is also home for one of the many mountainous destinations here in Cebu, such as the Mt. Hambubuyog.

Mt. Hambubuyog sits at the border of Ginatilan and Samboan. The mountain stands at 820 meters above sea level, which makes it the tallest peak in the town of Ginatilan. Its peak is also home for the Divine Mercy Chapel. According to long-time hikers, the mountain trail is not for the faint of heart. 

Nevertheless, for those people who are not daunting enough to walk its dangerous trail, they can just ride the vehicle to enjoy the peak of the mountain.

What to Do at the Top of Mt. Hambubuyog?

There are always activities when you’re at the top of a mountain, and Mt. Hambubuyog is no different. Currently there are many things that you can do when you reach the top of the trail, which are the following:

HOLY WORSHIP

As the peak of the mountain houses the Divine Mercy Chapel, it can be a perfect place to get closer to God for those hikers that are highly religious.

SUNSET VIEWING

Mt. Hambubuyog currently stands 820 meters above sea level which gives you the perfect view of sunset scene of the Negros island side. However, the peak gets really foggy during the rainy season. Thus, it is optimal to visit the peak during summer.

CAMPING

The peak has a rather large surface area with no harmful obstructions surrounding it. Hence, the place is really good for campings and overnight stays. Just make sure to bring the necessary camping equipment to avoid unnecessary inconveniences.

HOW TO GET THERE?

Exact Location: H998+55X, Ginatilan, Cebu

  • By Car: Navigate via Waze or Google Maps and pin the location “Mt. Hambubuyog.”
  • By Commute: From Cebu South Bus Terminal ask the driver or conductor to drop you off at Ginatilan Bus Terminal. From there, you hail a motor-taxi or habal-habal to bring to the peak.
  • By Foot: Use Inambakan Falls as your starting point. From there, follow the trail that leads you to the peak of the mountain. If you are relatively new to the area, it is best to hire a guide to guide you through going to the mountain.
