The CCPL or the Central Cebu Protected Landscape is an important ecological area that is situated in the heart of Cebu. The place spans approximately 29,062 hectares and it also includes several national parks of Cebu, to name a few such as the Buhisan Watershed Forest Reserve and Kotkot-Lusaran Watershed Forest Reserve. Key Features of the CCPL

  • Biodiversity

The CCPL is home to several very rare species such as the critically endangered Cebu Flowerpecker and the Black Shama, the other bird that is also so unique in Cebu.

  • Watershed Protection

These areas are vital sources of water for domestic, agricultural, and industrial use. It serves as a major source of water for Metro Cebu, making its conservation crucial for water security.

  • Environmental Role

The area also acts as a natural barrier that prevents soil erosion, flooding, and other climate-related problems or disasters.

  • Eco-Tourism

The area offers opportunities for hiking, birdwatching, and exploring nature parks like the Kan-irag Nature Park.

Protecting the Central Cebu Landscape is protecting life itself, for it shelters the water we drink and the air we breathe.
