You might have noticed that there are a lot of scam texts and calls emerging these days. These scam texts and calls are the recent security threats that a lot of people have been experiencing. Because of this, SIM Card registration will now become mandatory.

Here are the things you need to know about your SIM card registration.

Products required to be registered

  • Mobile phone SIM cards
  • Embedded SIM cards
  • Broadband modem SIM cards
  • IoT (Internet-of-things) devices with SIM cards
    • Smartwatches
    • Smart tags
    • Smart security systems
    • Fitness trackers

Where to Register

Registration platforms will be provided by Telco providers. Users can start to register online on December 27, 2022.

For those who are in remote areas where online registration is difficult to access, you may activate your SIM cards through the following:

  • Telcos
  • Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT)
  • National Telecommunications Commission (NTC)
  • Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG)
  • Department of Education (DepEd)

Requirements

You need to present and provide the following information upon your SIM Card registration

  • Full Name
  • Birthday
  • Address
  • Gender
  • Valid ID

Here are the Accepted Valid IDs

  • Passport
  • Philippine National ID
  • SSS (Social Security Service) ID
  • GSIS (Government Service Insurance System) e-Card
  • Driver’s License
  • NBI (National Bureau of Investigation Clearance)
  • Police Clearance
  • Firearm’s License to Own and Possess ID
  • PRC (Professional Regulation Commission) ID
  • IBP (Integrated Bar of the Philippines) ID
  • OWWA (Overseas Workers Welfare Administration) ID
  • BIR (Bureau of Internal Revenue) ID
  • Voter’s ID
  • Senior citizen’s card
  • UMID (Unified Multi-purpose Identification) Card
  • PWD (Person with Disabilities) card
  • Other government-issued ID with photo

For Foreigners, you need to present the following:

  • Passport
  • Proof of address in the Philippines (includes hotel booking)
  • Return ticket showing date and time of departure from the Philippines

For Minors, their SIM cards need to be registered under the name of their parents or any legal guardian. Parents need to provide consent for the registration.

For corporate and business accounts, present the following:

  • Company name
  • Address
  • Name of authorized signatory
