Region 12, Soccsksargen, has increased reports on dengue cases as compared to last year’s. The Department of Health Region 12’s Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (RESU) disclosed that the cases had reached 15,224 based on their data from January 1 to August 24, 2024.

The cases are already alarming and have exceeded the alert and epidemic threshold. For Region 12, if we look at it, there’s really an outbreak

Dr. Dyan Zubelle Parayao, RESU Head, shared during a media forum.

In addition, Parayao disclosed that based on their research and observations, the reasons for the increase in the number of dengue cases involved the changing of the weather wherein the rainy seasons prevail, and the lack of preventive measures done by the community.

As part of the government’s goal to fight against dengue, a fund of 172-million pesos is being disbursed to LGU’s for fogging equipment, test kits, and etc.
