Cheer up, Davaoenos, as Aug 16 was already declared as a special non-working holiday for the city!

Malacañang declared the holiday in order to celebrate Davao City’s 39th Kadayawan Festival and Indigenous Peoples Day. Executive Secretary Lucas P. Bersamin, acting on behalf of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., signed Proclamation No. 621 on July 2, formally recognizing the importance of the festival for the local community.

The Kadayawan Festival celebrates Davao City’s heritage, traditions, arts, beauty, and history of the indigenous peoples of the region. This year marks the festival’s 39th commemoration, showcasing its importance as a vital cultural and tourism event in the Philippines.
