“In the name of Christ, I command you to leave this body that you have tormented.” The Pope’s Exorcist follows Father Gabriele Amorth, the chief exorcist for the Vatican, as he battles demons and Satan. Father Gabriele was believed to have performed thousands of exorcisms before he passed away in 2016. The film, released in 2023 and directed by Julius Avery, features Russell Crowe, known for his role in the acclaimed film Gladiator.

The Nun

Are you ready to risk everything you believe in, even your own life, to confront a dark malevolent force in the form of a demonic nun? The Nun, directed by Corin Hardy, tells the story of the demonic nun named Valak.

The Conjuring Universe

How about binge-watching all the movies in The Conjuring series? Created and directed by James Wan, the first two films, The Conjuring (2013) and The Conjuring 2 (2016), follow the Warrens, a couple of paranormal and demonology experts based on real-life investigators of paranormal activities and demon attacks. Annabelle and The Nun are also connected to the original story of The Conjuring, featuring the story of the demonic nun and the haunted doll.

Shutter

The plot follows two newlywed couples who unearth disturbing ghostly apparitions in their photos, developed after a tragic accident that claimed a life while they were making their way to the top of a mountain. A series of eerie and ghostly appearances occur for the couple.

The Ring

Do not open or watch that tape. An urban legend in Japan, a videotape filled with disturbing and nightmare-inducing content. Rachel saw the tape and began to track it down, but the question is: can she unravel this creepy mystery?

Nosferatu

Robert Eggers’ 2024 movie titled Nosferatu reimagines one of the most classic vampire stories, focusing on physical and mental torment as well as societal repression. It follows Ellen, a woman haunted by the demonic entity Count Orlok, along with her husband Thomas.

Sinister

Released in 2012, Sinister features Ellison Oswald (Ethan Hawke), a true-crime author struggling to achieve a bestseller after nearly a decade. When he learns that a snuff film depicting a family’s murders exists, he vows to unravel the mystery. After moving his own family into the victims’ house, Ellison discovers that being in the house could be lethal when footage from an old movie and other hints suggest the existence of a mysterious entity.

The Blair Witch Project

Three film students travel to a small town to gather documentary footage on the Blair Witch, a renowned local legend. The story is told through found video footage. Over a few days, the students conduct interviews with locals and collect evidence to bolster the story’s authenticity. However, when they become lost in the woods and start hearing terrifying sounds, the experiment takes a horrifying turn.

Orphan

Kate and John, devastated by the death of their pregnant child, decide to adopt. After falling in love with Esther, a little girl at the orphanage, the couple takes their new daughter home. However, after a series of perilous events, Kate begins to fear that the child’s angelic exterior hides something terrible.

Lights Out

Rebecca thought her childhood anxieties were over when she moved out. Growing up, she never truly knew what was real when the lights went out at night. Now, the same inexplicable and horrifying incidents that threatened her life and sanity are plaguing her younger brother Martin. The entire family is being tormented by a demonic creature that has returned with a vengeance and has a peculiar link to their mother (Maria Bello).
