Zamboanga City officially welcomed the holiday season with the launch of its annual Christmas festival on December 1, themed “Christmas on the Move: Land, Air, and Sea of Joy.” The celebration transformed the historic Zamboanga City Hall into a glowing landmark, illuminated by thousands of sparkling lights. Nearby parks, major roads, and city streets were also adorned with festive decorations, creating a vibrant holiday atmosphere across the city.

A Parade Rooted in Identity and Bayanihan

Adding color and character to the kickoff was a Christmas parade featuring city government employees dressed in sea-inspired costumes. The maritime theme paid tribute to Mayor Khymer Olaso’s background as a boat captain before his election as city chief executive in 2025. In his message, Olaso emphasized unity and the spirit of “bayanihan”, calling on residents to work together in achieving the city’s goals for the coming year. The evening concluded with a program and a fireworks display that drew cheers from spectators.
