Did you know?

The Golden Trumpet Tree, scientific name (Handroanthus Chrysotrichus), also known as Tabebuia Chrysotricha, is native to tropical and subtropical places like Central and South America.

The tree grows approximately 8 to 12 meters in length, and the flowers are bright yellowed, and trumpet-shaped, hence the name “Golden Trumpet” because of its tube-like appearance. It blooms every February to April, during the dry and summer seasons and can be seen at the Parks, Kaamulan Grounds, and the highways of Casisang and Laguitas.

Flashback 60 Years Ago!

In 1964, during his years studying in Honolulu, Hawaii, Mr. Antonio Intong encountered a bright yellow tree that was blooming inside the campus. He was captivated by the beauty of the tree’s blossoming flowers. Mr. Antonio collected the seeds and carefully brought them back to Malaybalay to nurture them. He planted them in his yard, but from all the seeds that he brought, only two grew into saplings. Despite that, he shared the seedlings with his friends for them to grow their own.

Because of that, the residents and tourists visiting the place get to enjoy the flowers every season when they are blossoming. They soon became part of the local attractions in Malaybalay and a beautiful welcoming sight of the city.
