Lake Holon

Lake Holon, the crater lake of Mount Parker—also known as Mount Melibengoy—is located in T’boli, South Cotabato. This breathtaking lake was formed by a volcanic eruption in 1641.

To the T’boli tribe, the lake holds deep spiritual significance. They regard it as a sacred place believed to possess healing properties. According to local legend, it is protected by guardian gods who watch over it. The name “Holon” means “Portal to Heaven,” reflecting the lake’s pristine, tranquil, and captivating beauty.

The Kissing Stone of South Cotabato

HOW TO GET THERE?

Exact Location: Poblacion T’boli South Cotabato, Koronadal Proper, Philippines

  • By Commute: From General Santos City, take a bus or van heading to Koronadal City (also known as Marbel). This trip usually takes around 1.5 to 2 hours. From Koronadal City, transfer to another van or jeepney going to T’boli. This leg of the journey takes approximately 1 hour.
  • By Motorcycle: From the town proper, ride a motorcycle (locally known as “habal-habal”) to the jump-off point. There are two main trails to Lake Holon: Sitio Kule and Salacafe. The ride to the jump-off point can take around 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the trail you choose.
