On May 6, 2025, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. officially declared May 12, 2025 a non-working national holiday in observance of the 2025 Midterm Elections, according to a press conference held in Malacañang.

The declaration was confirmed by Palace Press Officer Claire Castro during a media briefing on Tuesday. The holiday will be observed nationwide to allow all citizens ample time to vote in both local and national elections. This proclamation aims to ensure that Filipinos can fully exercise their right to vote and participate in shaping the country’s leadership.

The midterm elections are scheduled to take place nationwide on May 12, with around 68 million registered voters expected to cast their ballots. Voting hours will run from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
