When visiting or crossing PBB always say “ Nakapa –attendance nako!”
The Inauguration
On September 27, 2024, the long-awaited opening of the longest bridge in Mindanao was finally celebrated. Construction of the bridge began on February 28, 2020, and by May 2024, 90% of the project was completed, with plans to officially open the bridge in August 2024. By July 4, 2024, the finishing touches, including the cement and asphalt, were being completed. The 3.17-kilometer bridge crosses Panguil Bay, connecting Tangub and Tubod to establish a more accessible road for Zamboanga Peninsula and Misamis Occidental. This bridge marks the beginning of socio-economic growth in various parts of Northern Mindanao.
Did You Know?
Quick fact: Panguil Bay serves as a natural border between the two provinces. According to some legends, the bay was named “Panguil” because of its resemblance to a canine tooth or fang, hence the name “Panguil” or “Pangil.” Amazing, right?
People from both sides of the city and neighboring provinces have been eager to visit the Panguil Bay Bridge (PBB). Many stop in the center of the bridge to take pictures, while others set up chairs to relax and enjoy the breeze coming off the bay. The bridge has become a popular attraction and a vital connection for the growth of the two provinces. It is open 24 hours a day and lights up every night, providing a picturesque and Instagram-worthy aesthetic.
