Before the Trek

Before starting your trek, here are some tips you can consider following:

  • Plan your route carefully and make sure that it fits your level of expertise;
  • Always check the weather conditions;
  • Choose appropriate gear: high quality trekking equipment to make your trek more tolerable than before;
  • Build fitness by going on a practice or training hike;
  • Pack essential supplies like food, water, and first aid;
  • Inform someone of your trekking plans;
  • Familiarize yourself with the basic trail and compass if necessary.

During the Trek

  • Stay hydrated: Drink water frequently, especially on hot days or during strenuous days.
  • Pace yourself: Take a break when needed, don’t push yourself too hard especially if you are a beginner in trekking.
  • Use trekking poles: Poles can help with balance and stability, especially on uneven terrain.
  • Observe your surroundings: Be aware of wildlife, potential hazards, and stay on the trail.
  • Take Photos: Capture priceless moments and memories during the trek.
  • Wear layers: Dress in layers to adapt to changing weather conditions.

After the Trek

  • Always drink plenty of water to replenish fluids that were lost through sweat; consider adding electrolytes if needed.
  • Eat a meal rich in protein and carbohydrates to replenish your energy and support muscle repair from your trek.
  • Perform gentle stretches for major muscle groups to improve blood flow and soreness.
  • Remove your hiking boots and give your feet a chance to rest and air out.
  • Use a foam roller to alleviate soreness and muscle pain.
  • Have a goodnight sleep to allow your body to fully recover.

The view on top of Mt. Tagaytay is top-notch, the journey to get up would be worth it once you get to see the view of the mountain. On top of the hill, you’ll be able to see the famed Malubog Lake in an aerial view. The lake already looked magnificent at a closer view but it’s even more amazing when viewed at an overlooking spot.

The peak is wide and perfect for having a picnic lunch with your friends. If you wish to stay at night, you can camp too in the area. Just bring your camping equipment and enjoy the stars in the sky.

The locals often call Tagaytay Hills as Old Bucao. If you need to ask for directions, go to the Barangay hall and tell the locals that you are going to Old Bucao. Always be ready by bringing a pair of slippers during the trip, you’ll be crossing streams of waters and climbing slippery rocks if you plan to side trip other nearby attractions.

If you are planning to go camping, please refrain from using a campfire. Campers must bring their own butane stoves to cook their meals. There’s also stores that offer food and drinks that you’ll need on the trip. However, always clean as you go and bring a garbage bag to store your trash. There’s also a private game-farm property and we don’t want to trespass to follow instructions, always ask for permission.
