A Morning Above the Clouds

Early in the morning between 5:00 A.M. and 6:00 AM when the valley below is shrouded in a sea of clouds, Mt. Campetra’s charm is at its strongest. As the sun rises, the misty horizon gradually unveils revealing treetops that appear to float above the cloud cover. This natural spectacle has captivated photographers and nature enthusiasts alike making it a must visit destination for those seeking tranquility and beauty.

Mt. Campetra provides a haven for biodiversity in addition to being a stunning sight. Nestled within the Nug-as Forest Reserve, the reserve’s rich flora and wildlife shows the significance of conservation efforts in maintaining Cebu’s natural heritage. This includes indigenous species like the Cebu Black Shama also known locally as “Siloy.”

How To Get There?

Location: Barangay Nug-as, Alcoy, Cebu, Central Visayas, Philippines

  • Via Car: From Cebu City, take the Cebu South Road heading south toward Alcoy. Drive approximately 100 km until you reach the town proper of Alcoy. From Alcoy town proper, follow the local signage or navigate through Google Maps or Waze that directs to Barangay Nug-as. Continue to the jump off point for Mt. Campetra. Travel time is roughly 3 hours depending on the traffic and road conditions. 
  • Via Commute: From Cebu City, take a bus bound for Alcoy at the South Bus Terminal. Bus fares range from ₱150.00 to ₱200.00 per person and the trip usually takes around 3 hours. Upon arrival in Alcoy town proper, hire a habal-habal to Barangay Nug-as and the trailhead for Mt. Campetra. Habal-habal fares typically cost around ₱100.00 to ₱150.00 per person depending on the distance and negotiation.
