Southern Leyte has indeed plenty of hidden gems that are yet to be discovered. From the vast oceans to the rising mountains all over the island, Leyte has proven to have wonderful sites that boast with nature.

Known as the Little Batanes of Southern Leyte, Mt. Caningag lays humbly from its overlooking view to Dinagat Islands, Limasa Island, and Surigao Strait. With a view like this, you might just be in nature-heaven.

Mt. Caningag Park is famed for its picturesque-breathtaking view perfect for IG shots and stories. The moment you step on the tip of the mountain you will witness the beauty of the clouds in motion and the calmness of the vast sea that gives the utmost scenery.

The heat can be overwhelming sometime so if you wish to go to a shelter or simply have some rest while your companions are busy taking pictures, they have cottages and chairs available on the corners.

Note: They can open the park as early as 5:00 am as long as there are visitors already.

HOW TO GET THERE

Location: Brgy. Buenavista Pintuyan, Soutern Leyte

From Sogod Leyte terminal, ride a bus or a van going to Pintuyan. Just tell the driver to drop you off at the crossing of Pintuyan and ride a motorcycle or a tricycle. Travel time is 2 to 3 hrs.

FARE 

If you’re alone, fare is P50.00 per head. If more than two passengers fare is P25.00 per head either in motorcycle & tricycle.
