Iloilo City, a rising city in the Visayas, made it to the top of the List of Highly Urbanized Cities.
Department of Industry (DTI) annually held the Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI) Summit Awarding Ceremony. Its ranking is judged by the criteria of 4 Pillars: Economic Dynamism, Government Efficiency, Infrastructure, and Resiliency. Provinces are ranked based on the overall average according to their population and income.
Iloilo City Beats Rankings with the Efficiency of the Government
A sleeping dragon has awakened in its slumber. Iloilo continues to rise and finally has topped highly urbanized cities. It immediately climbed 8 places in the rankings. From the Top 15 in 2021, it immediately ranked as the top 1 in the list. It climbed to the top in just one year.
It scored big time since it ranked as Top 1 in government efficiency. It rocked the percentile reaching its full potential in the following areas:
- Social Protection
- Presence of Investment Promotion Unit
- Compliance with ARTA (Anti-Red Tape Authority) Citizens Charter
- Capacity of Health Services
- Getting Business Permits
Iloilo continues to enjoy genuine empowerment with its strengthened government support in education, health, agriculture, tourism, and social services. As a result, they were awarded for the efficiency of government which is praised by many. That rose them to the top.
