When you think the horrors depicted in films are confined to the screen, reality can still surprise you in the most unsettling ways.
On Sunday morning, Carcar City was shaken by a grim discovery: the body of a 22-year-old woman was found outside the burial grounds, her clothing disheveled and revealing.
The caretaker of Ocaña Public Cemetery reported that he found the woman’s casket outside her tomb while doing his routine garbage disposal. He also mentioned that she had been laid to rest just the day before, on Saturday, October 19, 2024.
The Disturbing Reality of Necrophilia
Authorities are currently investigating the disturbing crime, but no further details have been released. Online commenters have speculated that people living near the cemetery may have been aware of the situation. Additionally, the corpse was found with dirt on it, suggesting she may have been placed on the ground during the incident.
Individuals who get their sexual satisfaction from engaging with corpses are known as necrophiliacs. The term originates from the Greek words “nekros,” meaning dead body, and “philia,” meaning love or attraction; together, they refer to an attraction to dead bodies.
Interestingly, necrophilia has been observed in some animal species, including dolphins, manatees, lizards, and birds. However, unlike other animals, humans have the capacity to discern between moral and immoral actions. Notorious serial killers such as Ted Bundy, Jeffrey Dahmer, Dennis Nilsen, and Karen Greenlee have admitted to practicing necrophilia.
This disturbing behavior is also depicted in the Spanish film “The Corpse of Anna Fritz,” which tells the story of a female celebrity’s body being sexually exploited without consent after being mistakenly believed to be dead. While the film is intense, critics have noted that it could benefit from tighter editing, as some scenes are repetitive and unnecessary. Nonetheless, it effectively highlights the horrific acts that can occur in unmonitored spaces where necrophiliacs may exploit a corpse.
For now, we are on the edge and calling for justice towards the inexcusable behavior done to the body of the 22-year old woman, and may her soul rest in peace as the authorities find the horrific perpetrators of the act.
