Nature has always surprised us with its unmatched marvels and grandiose explosions of jaw-dropping sceneries. Somewhere in the hidden parts of Negros Oriental lies a sight that would make travelers fall on their knees – the Niludhan Falls.

Niludhan Falls is nestled in Barangay Dawis, Bayawan City. It is right beside the main road along the city northern border connecting Dawis to its adjacent town, Mabinay.

There’s a river that feeds the 25-meter wide waterfalls, ending in a 40-meter vertical drop. It’s called ‘Niludhan’ because local stories say that the water buffalos used in farming must kneel after crossing the top part of the rugged trail.

To be able to witness and capture the full magnificence of its curtain falls, you should visit the place during the rainy season or after a heavy rainfall. During summer, the waterfalls can get sparse.

From every angle, the Niludhan Falls is a perfect feature for your next IG and FB posts. You can also enjoy bathing in its turquoise basin of warm water. If you are brave enough, there’s a ledge at the back of the waterfalls suited for diving and free falling.

While the falls is a gem hidden in vast green vegetation, trekkers and hikers may not find the thrill of adventure here since the place is just a 5-minute walk away from the drop-off point. Going down the falls, you just need to use the stairway leading to the falls’ basin while enjoying the music of the raging waters.

It is also important to note that there are only few stores in the area so you need to make sure you have the supplies ready like food and bottled water before reaching the place. Also, the trail and stairs going down the falls can be slippery hence, put on the right footwear.
