Tinago Falls, is situated in the City of Majestic Waterfalls, Iligan City, Lanao Del Norte, the falls is on the Argus River, located between the Municipality of Linamon, Lanao Del Norte and Iligan City, it is one of the main tourist attraction of Iligan City.  The height of the fall is 73.15 meters (240 feet) and its average width is 30 meters (100 feet), and the falls has five drops.

Tinago is a Filipino term meaning “hidden”, Tinago Falls is hidden in a deep ravine, it approximately takes 425 steps in the “winding staircase”. The tall waterfall has very cold water that flows into a calm, deep pool that looks like a blue lagoon. There’s a small cave under the falls where people can go in and hear the loud water.

THE FOLKLORE OF TINAGO

Folklore has it, long time ago there was once a powerful sultan and his wife, and they were very both selfish rulers, The sultan’s wife was pregnant, there was an enchantress that disguised herself as a beggar and begs alms to the sultan and his wife, but they rejected her. Then the old beggar reveals her true self and curses their unborn child that the child would become ugly. Then Tig-an was born, Tig-an means a “hidden face”, growing up people teasing her because of her appearance, and then the enchantress saw her sufferings and teased by the people and then turned her into a beautiful and pretty waterfall.
