On Sunday, July 12 at 11AM, a sea turtle was found by some residents in Poblacion, Talibon, Bohol.

This turtle is said to be a ‘Leatherback Sea Turtle’ or often called as the lute turtle. It is the largest of all living turtles and is also the fourth-heaviest modern reptile.

According to the residents, the turtle was already found dead when it was caught and has already been turned over to DENR and the local government for investigation.

Currently, the Bohol Environment Management Office has been in contact with anyone in authority to preserve this ‘super-rare’ leatherback sea turtle.
