Traveling to Iligan: How to get to the city

Iligan City is located in the Lanao del Norte province of Mindanao island. We’ve compiled here the best routes to serve as your guide as you wade through this beautiful city in the north.

Traveling from Manila or Cebu to Iligan City

Book your flight going to Cagayan De Oro. Upon landing at the Laguindingan International Airport, take a bus or van heading for Iligan City. Bus fare costs about PHP 135 -165 while van rates are PHP 200-250 with a travel time of about an hour and a half.

Traveling from Davao City to Iligan City

You can take a bus or a van from Davao City to Iligan City. The travel time would be around four hours, and the fare would cost you approximately PHP 400-500.

1.) Maria Cristina Falls

The roaring waters of the Maria Cristina Falls drop from 320 feet and are located in the Agus VI Hydroelectric Plant. It’s a popular tourist spot because of its accessibility and easy trek.

How to get there: Take a tricycle ride to the jeepney terminal and look for a ride to Buru-un. Let the driver know you’re dropping you off at Maria Christina Falls. The entrance fee is PHP 50.

2.) Tinago Falls

Tinago Falls is located in Barangay Ditucalan and is about 500 steps down from the parking area. The turquoise waters of Tinago Falls drop from a height of 220 feet, making it one of the tallest waterfalls in Mindanao.

How to get there: You can take a jeepney ride from the city proper to Buru-un. Let the driver know you’ll drop off at the crossing heading to Tinago falls. From here, take a single motorcycle ride to get to the site. From there, it’s about a 20-minute walk going down to Tinago Falls. The entrance fee is PHP 30 (excluding costs for other amenities).

3.) Mimbalut Falls

It is one of the most famous waterfalls in Iligan City, situated 11 kilometers away from the city proper. The best time to visit? When it’s rainy season and water flow is at its strongest!

How to get there: Take a PUJ ride heading to Barangay Buru-an and let the driver know you’d like to drop off Miguel Canohoy Memorial School. From there, it’s about a 15-minute walk to the falls. There is no entrance fee required, but you can give a donation. You can ride a single motorcycle from the city proper and head directly to Mimbalot.
