Halseyle Hill is famous right now as a tourist spot in Misamis but before it became so, the former mayor Jerome P. Lagbas who had an affinity with fighting cocks in the late 90s and made the area as a gamefowl farm.

The name of the place, Halseyle, originated from a famous fighting cock bloodline “Halsey Lemon” and was deemed lucky for the mayor that he even named his daughter the shortened version of the name, which is “Halseyle”, and the rest is history.

The local name of the hill, which is Tiningalan, is derived from the local dialect, “katingalahan” which means “wonder” in English. There is a superstition that tourists would claim they would hear voices out of nowhere while in the hill, making them wonder where the voices came from.

The overlooking view of Subongcogon is indeed picture-perfect. Many tourists flock here to get that perfect Instagram shot, with nature as the ideal background.

The landscape of the view deck is also something to appreciate, as the wooden materials compliment to the immediate surroundings.

Aside from the beautiful view, the hill also has a café that serves delicious foods as well as cold drinks such as the famous milk teas. The Café Maria, perched atop the hill, is a famous pit stop among riders because of its relaxing ambience matched with that unique “restaurant at top” vibes. Their menu includes burgers, paninis, quesadillas and many more.
