If you swore to do something but said to fulfill it “kapag pumuti na ang uwak” (when the crow turns white,) the tables have turned.
Last December 2021, a rare “white crow” was captured by wild bird photographer Kirk Cabello of Cagayan de Oro City in the foothills of Jasaan, Misamis Oriental. The bird is an albino large-billed crow, which is a once-in-a-lifetime find.
The photos of the ‘uwak na puti’ not only went viral on social media but was also recently featured on national TV via GMA-7’s Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho (KMJS). According to a resident interviewed by KMJS, “Di ba po kadalasan ang uwak dito sa atin, itim? Kaya na-shock ako nu’ng may nakita akong puti na uwak sa kapitbahay namin! Uwak talaga siya! ‘Yung huni niya, pang-uwak talaga! Mayroon talagang uwak na puti!”
