As of October 2024, Adobe announced significant updates to Photoshop and Illustrator, focusing heavily on AI enhancements to improve speed, precision, and creative capabilities for graphic designers.

We’re thrilled to introduce transformative innovations across our flagship design apps that bring the creative community the most powerful creative tools yet.”
The New Features
These are the newly introduced AI features of Adobe to enhance the editing experience for creators:
- Remove Tool – allows users to remove unwanted objects from images automatically, without needing to highlight the area. For example, Photoshop users can remove unwanted wires and cables from images with a single click.
- Adobe Firefly can now generate videos. It can turn images into B-roll footage and handle both 2D and 3D animations. It also allows users to customize shots with lighting and camera settings.
- Firefly AI is integrated into Premiere Pro through a feature called Generative Extend. This allows users to extend videos by up to 2 seconds and audio by up to 10 seconds, helping to smooth transitions and add extra frames.
- Substance 3D Viewer app (beta) – powered by Adobe Firefly. This further enhances workflows, enabling designers to incorporate editable 3D Smart Objects into their 2D designs. This functionality provides greater creative freedom and opens new avenues for combining 2D and 3D elements.
- Generative Fill enables designers to easily add or remove elements from images using straightforward text prompts directly in Photoshop, The tool automatically generates imagery with matching shadows, reflections, lighting, and perspective, delivering realistic outcomes in just a few steps.
- Adobe Illustrator has rolled out a series of impactful updates, aimed at improving core design tasks. One standout feature, Objects on Path, allows designers to precisely attach, arrange, and move objects along any path, significantly reducing the need for manual adjustments and speeding up the design process.
- Mockup feature enables designers to create visual prototypes of their artwork on real-world items like packaging or apparel. The tool automatically adjusts designs to fit the contours of 3D objects, making the creation of polished mockups easier.
