Siquijor Island, located within Negros Island Region, The Province’s largest town and capital is the Municipality of Siquijor, during the Spanish colonial era, they called the Island, Isla de Fuego, because a swarm of fireflies glowed around the molave tree. There are two legends about why Siquijor was named Siquijor, one popular legend says that the name comes from a famed Pre-Spanish ruler, Datu Kihod, as the Spaniards arrived the Datu introduced himself by saying “si kihod”, the colonizers presumed it was the physical name of the place, eventually evolved into Siquijor.
Some legends suggest that a priest who once visited the island told the people in Bohol “sequor,” which means “to follow the waves.” The locals misinterpreted this and hence, assumed that the island’s name was Siquijor.

Pitogo Cliff
Dive in on Siquijors famous cliff, Pitogo Cliff is a 20-foot cliff where you can see the breathtaking view of the ocean and its crystal clear waters. The highest point of the cliff is 40 feet. Jumping and cliff diving are not allowed for safety reasons.

HOW TO GET THERE?
Exact Location of Pitogo Cliff: San Juan, Siquijor
- Head west from Sta. Fe Poblacion towards the main road. Turn left onto the main road heading towards the town of San Juan. Continue on this road for about 25-30 minutes until you reach Tag-ibo, where Pitogo Cliff is located.

Exact Location: Cangmunag, San Juan
- By Commute: Head south out of the port area and take a right turn to merge onto the main road. Continue down the main road for approximately 30 minutes. The resort is located in Cangmunag, San Juan, which is about 19 kilometers away by car or motorcycle.
Lazi Convent and Lazi Church
A notable historical complex located in the Philippine municipality of Lazi, Siquijor, is the Lazi Church and Convent, also called the San Isidro Labrador Parish Church and Convent, and a Heritage Museum in Siquijor. Established in 1857 under the patronage of Saint Isidore the Laborer, the church’s construction started in 1884, and the bell tower was finished in 1885.

- By Commute: Lazi Convent is right beside the Lazi Church. From Kawayan Holiday Resort, head northeast. Proceed to Lazi by turning left onto the main road. Proceed approximately 11 kilometers on this route. Just before you get to Lazi’s town center, on the right side of the road, you’ll discover Lazi Church and Convent.
Cambugahay Falls
One of Siquijor Island’s most charming and well-liked tourist attractions is Cambugahay Falls. It’s well-known for its blue, tiered pools, and pristine waters, making it an ideal location for swimming, cliff jumping, and photography. A calm and revitalizing ambiance is created by the abundant foliage that envelops the falls.

Butterfly Garden
Siquijor butterfly garden. Situated in Cang-Apa, Larena, close to Mount Bandilaan on Siquijor Island, the Siquijor Butterfly Sanctuary—also called the Siquijor Butterfly Garden or Siquijor Butterfly Farm—is a tranquil eco-destination. The sanctuary, which opened in 2008, provides a charming natural setting where guests may observe a range of butterfly species.

Enchanted Balete Tree
One of Siquijor Island’s most popular attractions is the Enchanted Balete Tree. Barangay Campalanas, Lazi, is home to this historic balete tree, which is thought to be more than 400 years old. The tree’s appeal and mysterious attractiveness are enhanced by some people’s belief that it has otherworldly ties.

Continue straight for about 20 kilometers until you reach Barangay Campalanas in Lazi. The Enchanted Balete Tree will be on the left side of the road.
